As a local charity the money raised and time given by the community is an important part of our work. The support we currently receive comes from many different places, including everywhere from schools to colleges and universities, Rotary Clubs to community groups and Golf Clubs to individuals, so no matter who you are there is a way you can make a difference.
Jan has been working with Rose Road for over 5 years and in that time has organised a variety of different events. These include two fashion shows, regular coffee mornings, summer garden parties, raffles, charity dinners and her legendary stall at our annual Rose Road Day. Through all of these Jan has raised an incredible £20,000!
"I became involved with Rose Road as I was keen to help a local charity," said Jan "and since visiting the Bradbury Centre and seeing the work they do there, I haven’t looked back. Over the last 5 years I have worked with a variety of different people and have enjoyed every minute. Although it can be hard work at times it is also a lot of fun and I would strongly urge anyone who is thinking about it to get involved; it is a truly rewarding experience."
The money Jan has raised has helped us to purchase important equipment, including interactive whiteboards, sound and light communication aids, two computers and an adjustable bed.
If you would like to follow in Jan's footsteps why not set up your own fundraising group? This could be with friends, family members or even neighbours and there are many different ways for you to get involved, from a quiz night or dinner party to a murder mystery evening or car washing day.
Whether you would like to organise something yourself or take part in one of our exciting challenge events we can help with all the advice and support you need. We are always happy to come and speak to your group or club about Rose Road and the services that we provide for the children, young people and their families who come to the Bradbury Centre. We also welcome visits from small groups or individuals to see our work at first hand.
We are very pleased that Thomas Eggar are continuing to support Rose Road’s community fundraising programme.
"Thomas Eggar is absolutely delighted to be sponsoring the community fundraising programme” said Esther Smith, Partner “Rose Road is a fantastic charity with a wonderful reputation in the city and surrounding community. We are also very much looking forward to organizing our first ever Charity Triathlon in aid of Rose Road later this year on 24th November."
When we opened our office in Southampton in September 2008 it was really important to us to make links with local organisations and invest in the city. We have already been involved in many fundraising activities for the charity, including participating in the Kamikaze challenge – great fun, but hard work – and are looking forward to helping them raise even more money for their Children's Appeal.
Our collection boxes are an important source of income and are placed throughout a number of community and business locations which include newsagents, supermarkets, garages, public houses and local shops.
Our Collection Box Co-ordinator, will pick up and drop off a new box on a regular basis, but we can also arrange an individual collection if you have done particularly well! We also let you know how much you have collected throughout the year so you can let your staff and customers know just how you have done.
Please contact Angela Carey on 023 8072 1201 to talk about having a Rose Road collection box on your premises. Every penny really does count!
